PIC Projects Store

NOTE: This is for convience only -- you can produce everything offered here from the available files.  There is nothing secret or "held back".

NOTE: All payments are made through PayPal only.  I do not have credit card processing abilities (though PayPal does) and do not want to be tracking whether personal checks clear or not.  Cashiers Checks/Money Orders are possible, if necessary -- Contact me via Email (gerry@rgbled.org) for details

NOTE: A good source of reasonably bright, good color T1 3/4 format RGBLEDs is at www.superbrightleds.com.  Be sure to use the diffused ones (the clear ones are brighter, but you never can get "white" as the colors never mix correctly).  Other potential parts suppliers are listed here

NOTE: I am no longer offering kit versions of the projects (the PC board and all parts, just unassembled).  The reason is simply cost.  The cost to stock all the parts and them assemble the kit is more than I feel is a reasonable charge.  In fact, picing, checking and packing a kit was nearly as expensive, time wise, as assembling the project.  So, in short, it's just not economical to offer kits at this time.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You must select either Domestic shipping (for USA) or International shipping. It is not automatically added to your order -- you need to explicitly select one. If you forget to select one, it'll delay your order as I'll have to contact you.

Pre-programmed PIC 16F877A controller (40 pin, DIP/PDIP) with flash-upgradable bootloader (allows future firmware upgrades to be done "in place" without needing a PIC programmer).  This does NOT include a PC board, just the PIC.

Accessories -- power supplies, cabling, etc
Regulated 5 volt, 2AMP power supply
13.50 + S&H
OUT OF STOCK
This supply comes with a 6 foot cord.  It's a modified wall plug (meaning it's about 1" thick, 2" tall and about 2 1/2" wide).  It can supply more than ample power to any of these projects and with 2AMP, may be able to support multiple boards (depends on boards and configuration)..  Because of the weight and shipping, there is an additional shipping charge that will be added to the order ($2 USD)

Serial Port Adapter Cable
9.50
All Projects that can attach to a serial port do so using screw down terminals.  These are not what you see on the back of your computer, though they are not uncommon for permanent device installation.  You can easily take an existing serial cable, cut one end off and strip the wires for use with the screw down terminals.  If you'd rather not, this adapter will provice a 1 foot serial cable adapter that has the pre-stripped, ready to screw down wires on one side and a standard DB9 Female serial port plug on the order.  You can plug then plug the board  directly into your computer or into a serial port extension cable.

Pre-wired RGBLED for the RGBLED or tiRGBLED controller (common anode)
NOTE: Single RGBLED -- if you want more, change the quantity in the shopping cart
8.00
OUT OF STOCK
This is a Common Anode  SuperBright RGBLED in a standard 5mm (T 1/34) package with a difuse lens.  It provides a bright, well mixed color with 1200mcd of red, 3700mcd of green and 700mcd of blue (when all colors are  on, makes a very good white).  This LED comes with 2 foot (24 inch) color coded leads attached.  If you need a different length, please contect me *BEFORE* you place your order.

This LEDs, as wired, will NOT work with an mRGBLED controller.  This LED has NO current limiting resistors (the RGBLED and tiRGBLED board handles that) and if hooked directly to an mRGBLED controller, either the controller or the LEDs or both will be damaged.

NOTE: Most of this cost is the labor. If you can solder yourself, you'll save a fair amount soldering up your own LED/cable.

This is a Common Anode SuperBright RGBLED in a standard 5mm (T 1/34) package with a difuse lens.  It provides a bright, well mixed color with 1200mcd of red, 3700mcd of green and 700mcd of blue (when all colors are on, makes a very good white).  This LED comes with 2 foot (24 inch) color coded leads attached and built in current limiting resistors.  If you need a different length wire, please contect me *BEFORE* you place your order.

This LEDs, as wired, will NOT work with an RGBLED or tiRGBLED controller.  This LED HAS current limiting resistors  matched to the mRGBLED output and if used with the RGBLED or tiRGBLED controller, will either not light or will be very dim.  If you plan on using a power supply with a voltage other than 5 (five) volts, please be sure to make a note of it in the order so I can compensate in the resistors.

NOTE: Most of this cost is the labor. If you can solder yourself, you'll save a fair amount soldering up your own LED/cable.

Pre-wired High Powered RGBLED for use with the RGBLED PowerDriver (common cathode)
NOTE: Single RGBLED -- if you want more, change the quantity in the shopping cart
18.00
OUT OF STOCK
This is a Common Cathode Prolight 3 Watt RGBLED.  It comes attached to a metal disk about 1" in diameter and a clear lens.  It puts out a fantastically bright light - 30 lumens of red (yes, *lumens*), 30 lumes of green and 10 lumens of blue.  It can be produce a nice white light, but because of the clear lense and high brightness, you need to use something to difuse the light if blending is to be ideal.  It requires .375 amps per color (or nearly 1.2 AMPs when all colors are on)

This kind of light can be used for washing walls (interior or exterior) with color (its that bright) or other architectural lighting needs.

This LED gets incredibly HOT and requires a heat sink to be attached (including thermal grease).  If you don't, it will destroy itself within a few minutes.  A piece of aluminum stock about 1" wide by 3-4" long is usually enough.  No heat sink is included.

This LEDs will not work directly with the RGBLED or mRGBLED controller as it  requires far more current than either can supply.  It is meant to be used with the RGBLED PowerDriver which can easily handle driving 1 or 2 of these LEDs.  You will need a power supply and wiring capable of handling this much power as line losses (from low voltage, thin wires or long wire runs) show up very quickly at these power levels.
